The
Second British Invasion
The British Invasion was, quite simply,
one of the biggest turning points in popular music history.
The phenomenon involved the virtual domination of AM
radio and the record industry in the United States by
British artists, particularly the groups who had proved
adept at recycling the American rhythm and blues and
rockabilly songs of the 1950s. Liverpool became the
first hotbed of the so-called “beat boom.”
With the launch of “Merseybeat,” so named
for the estuary that runs alongside Liverpool. Rock
swept Britain.
These charming invaders had borrowed
(often literally) American rock music and returned it—restyled
and refreshed—to a generation largely ignorant
of its historical and racial origins. In April 1966
Time magazine effectively raised the white flag with
a cover story on “London: The Swinging City.”
Peace quickly followed; by the pivotal year 1967 a proliferation
of English and American bands were equal partners in
one international rock culture.

San
Francisco - Summer Of Love
The Summer of Love was a social phenomenon
that occurred during the summer of 1967, when as many
as 100,000 people converged in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood
of San Francisco. Although hippies also gathered in
major cities across the U.S., Canada and Europe, San
Francisco remained the epicenter of the social earthquake
that would come to be known as the Hippie Revolution.
Like its sister enclave of Greenwich Village, the city
became even more of a melting pot of politics and phenomenal
musical creativity,
This music is
legendary and is a huge piece of world culture having
a distinct sound of it's own that resonated to millions.
This was the sound of a new generation, taking control
as a season of discovery made it's presence felt from
San Francisco to Carnaby Street. Take a trip back in
time and experience the sounds of this unique Californian
phenomenon that spread the love and good times round
the globe to this day. Peace, Love, Happiness and a
whole lot of groovy GREAT music never go out of style!

Chicago
Blues - And So Much More
Chicago blues was one of the most significant
influences on modern rock music. Chuck Berry originally
signed with Chess records—one of the most significant
Chicago blues record labels. Berry met and was influenced
by Muddy Waters in Chicago and Waters suggested he audition
for Chess. Willie Dixon and other blues musicians played
on some of Berry's early records.
Although The Beatles were not significantly
influenced by Chicago blues music, later British invasion
bands and artists such as The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds,
The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, and many more were
all influenced by Chicago blues musicians such as Big
Bill Broonzy, Son House, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters,
and Howlin' Wolf. Don't expect a night of sad songs..
This music is a true celebration of life and will make
you feel good and forget all about all your troubles
at least for a little while.

The
Soul Of Motown - Detroit /
The Motor City
During the 1960s, Motown achieved spectacular success
for a small record company: 79 records in the Top Ten
of the Billboard Hot 100 record chart between 1960 and
1969. The sounds of Motown virtually dominated the charts
during the late 60's. With countless hits and a legacy
that has endured over time, this is truly feel good
music for all ages that will provide pure entertainment
with it's catalog of classic sounds.
Trace the influence
of soul on rock and how this left it's mark on the British
Invasion as well as today's chart toppers. Don't forget
Detroit is also home to some great rock and roll as
well. With a gritty urban sound that also left it's
mark on the music world, you will surely find out that
the soul carried over into the rock for a special blend
that has an appeal unique to the Motor City alone! Often
imitated but the music does the talking and stands the
test of time forever.
